PORT ALBERTI, BC, CANADA — Two parents who tackled and restrained a 28-year-old man in their home say he sent “explicit messages” to their 13-year-old daughter and showed up to have sex with her. Police responders then literally cut loose the hogtied man, and arrested the mom and dad instead. Now the parents may face criminal charges.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers responded to a disturbance call at the unnamed family’s home last Thursday. They reportedly found the unidentified 28-year-old man facedown with zip-ties binding his hands and feet behind his back. It’s since been said that the man was an “acquaintance” known to the family.

The teen girl’s mother broadcast video of the incident on Facebook Live, where she can be heard saying:

“He come to my house to meet my 13-year-old f—ing daughter to f—k her. He wanted to be her first. We f—ing tackled him and zap strapped him and called the police!”

On the video, the mother can also be heard saying she had previously called authorities about the alleged predator coming to her home, but that she got no response. She can be heard saying:

“Because earlier today when I asked the police to come here for this meeting [that the man allegedly set up with the daughter], they said no … Why wouldn’t the police come and help me catch this predator that just came to my f—ing house?”

The Mounties freed the bound man and took him to a hospital, where he was treated and released. He has not been charged. The officers did, however, arrest the parents for assault as “a result of vigilante actions.” Police later said that the couple could face criminal charges.

The mother told CTV News that she had informed police back in March about the man sending her daughter “explicit messages” via Instagram. She says they told her to simply “block his account.”

Finally, last week, the mother used her daughter’s account to send a message to the man, inviting him to come over. She says she asked the police to be there waiting for his arrival, but allegedly they refused. Instead, when he showed up, the mom and dad swung into action.

Corporal Amelia Hayden of the Port Alberni Royal Canadian Mounted Police criticized the couple’s decision, and stated:

“Police want to stress that at no time should the public take the law into their own hands. These are serious matters, and the police are investigating and taking appropriate steps to address the original complaint filed in March. Vigilante actions like these are not only illegal and put people in danger, but they also have the potential to compromise the original ongoing investigation.”

Regardless, the mother remains convinced she was justified, declaring: “If I get charged, I still feel it was the right thing.”
